A player who began his journey by joining Rangers FC at five years old, made his way through the academy ranks and now breaking through into the first team, making his debut at 18 years old. The young center-back made his first senior start against Dundee United on 8th May 2022 with a stand-out performance and never looked out of place.
King has been at Rangers FC since the beginning of his player journey, making his way through the ranks of the academy. King made his debut for Rangers’ development squad at just 14 years old. He signed his first professional deal at the age of 16.
Although, as a younger player, he was physically ahead of players his own age with his height and build, he was exposed to a higher level at an earlier age where he soon found out that physicality is not everything. He developed his technical ability and position based awareness with his previous manager Steven Gerrard saying “The biggest compliment I can pay him for his age and where he is at is he hasn’t looked out of place in training, so that wasn’t a sentimental substitution tonight – he has earned it by training really well among his peers at first-team level.”
His rapid progression in training has earned him his chance of playing at first team level.
